Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya, often called “Little England,” is a highland city in Sri Lanka’s Central Province known for its temperate climate, colonial architecture, and lush tea estates. Established in the mid-19th century by British planters, it became a retreat for colonial officers seeking cooler weather. The name means “City on the Plain” in Sinhalese. Today, Nuwara Eliya blends Victorian-style buildings with stunning landscapes, making it a hub for tea tourism and horticulture.
